OCD: Effect on Others

In my experience, the people affected most by Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (besides the one who has it) are the people living with the person with OCD. Some other friends and family can definitely be affected, as well, depending on the level of OCD.

Oh, the depths that can be involved with OCD are hard to fathom unless you've seen it first hand. Some of the lengths some people have gone to and still do go through for me in order to make me comfortable because they love me and want to be there for me are difficult to describe.

I feel sad for things people go through or have gone through for me.

I feel blessed that God has placed so many amazing people (past and present) in my life. The depth of their love for me is incredible.

The words "thank you" fall flat compared to some of the thankfulness I feel in my heart.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, nor do I work in the health field. I am not an expert in anything faith-related, nor do I work in a faith-related area. The things I write are things I've learned and/or things I believe. I learned them from sermons, Bible teacher(s), Bible study, life, and/or etc. I take things I've learned and see how I believe they could be applied to OCD based on my experiences, etc. with OCD. I am not saying to use any of the things on this blog as treatment. Maybe you'll find some things in my blog posts to help you on top of whatever treatment method(s) you have chosen/choose to use or not use for your OCD, but you do so at your own risk. I am not responsible for any of your choices, actions, decisions. I am not responsible for any of your results, nor your lack of results. I have read something similar or the same as this in the past from a Bible teacher: If anything I ever write doesn't line up with God's Word, please throw it out.

  1. I just want to thank you for your blog. I am a wife, mom of three, pastors wife, adoptive mom...from the outside I look like I have it all together. BUT I have OCD...intrusive thoughts. I have dealt with it since I was 18. God has taken me through a journey these past 4 months and I finally understand my affliction. He is so good. Just two weeks ago I shred my testimony with over 60 women. What the enemy has tried to use to destroy me God is using to bring Him glory. I truly believe the intrusive thoughts of OCD need to be brought to the light. Many people struggle with this illness but don't want to share because they feel so much shame. Thank you for your blog...it is a great forum for God's love and His truth. Keep up the good work!!

    1. Thank you so much for your comment, Christy. It really means a lot. I had tears in my eyes from reading it. Thank you for sharing about the struggles you've had and for your encouraging words. I agree with what you said about the enemy and God. That is so great you were able to share your testimony with those women. I will pray for you!
