Temptations (Part 1)

When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. - James 1:13-14

"God never tempts us to sin, nor does He ever fail to provide a way of escape, just as He promised in 1 Corinthians 10:13." - Beth Moore

There are many temptations in life, including within OCD. I've learned and believe that:

Temptations aren't always about something we enjoy in the moment.

I believe satan can us tempt us in many ways.

One way is through fear. The enemy has tempted me to do compulsive behaviors out of fear that, if I don't, something bad will happen to someone I love. I have gotten past a lot of those things by reminding myself that God is in control, etc.

A couple of times lately, I've seen people who have OCD write the words "have to" when referring to an OCD ritual or compulsive behavior. OCD can cause a person to feel like they have to do something, but I've learned that those feelings are based on lies from satan. You don't have to! Call the enemy out on his lies.

Whatever way(s) satan uses to tempt you in life, whether through fear, pleasure, and/or other, the following verse is huge!

No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. - 1 Corinthians 10:13

Know these truths:

Even though temptations feel overwhelming at times, God will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you can bear.

You don't have to give in to the temptation. God ALWAYS offers a way out.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, nor do I work in the health field. I am not an expert in anything faith-related, nor do I work in a faith-related area. The things I write are things I've learned and/or things I believe. I learned them from sermons, Bible teacher(s), Bible study, life, and/or etc. I take things I've learned and see how I believe they could be applied to OCD based on my experiences, etc. with OCD. I am not saying to use any of the things on this blog as treatment. Maybe you'll find some things in my blog posts to help you on top of whatever treatment method(s) you have chosen/choose to use or not use for your OCD, but you do so at your own risk. I am not responsible for any of your choices, actions, decisions. I am not responsible for any of your results, nor your lack of results. I have read something similar or the same as this in the past from a Bible teacher: If anything I ever write doesn't line up with God's Word, please throw it out.
